Maison Blond Studio opened on South Congress in 2018 with one idea: Austin deserved a color salon that told the truth about what your hair could handle.
Camille Roy spent five years working in salons where she was expected to say yes to every color request, regardless of whether the client’s hair could actually handle it. After watching too many clients leave with damaged, over-processed hair, she decided to open a place built around a different operating principle: tell people the truth about their hair, then do the best work possible within those honest boundaries.
Maison Blond Studio opened its doors on South Congress in March 2018 with two chairs, a French-inspired name, and a referral-only appointment book. Within eight months, we opened a third chair and brought on Jordan Lee. By 2020, we had our current full team of three stylists and an established reputation for balayage that actually looks like balayage - not an uneven stripe with a root shadow.
Color is a chemical process. It works according to chemistry, not optimism. What your hair looks like now - its history of processing, its condition, its natural level - determines what it can become in a single session. We believe in setting realistic expectations before we start, not making excuses after.
This means we turn down some color requests. We may tell you that what you want requires three sessions instead of one, or that your hair needs a conditioning treatment before we touch the color. These conversations happen before you sit in the chair, not after. We’d rather lose the appointment than gain a bad outcome.
We exclusively use professional-grade, sulfate-free, color-safe products in the salon. We don’t carry products that we don’t believe in. Our color line is Redken and Schwarzkopf Professional; our treatment line includes Olaplex and K18 for bond repair and damage restoration.
We’re happy to recommend a home care routine that extends the life of your color. Ask your stylist at checkout - most consultations take about five minutes and are free.
We’re at 2208 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704, in the stretch of South Congress between Annie Street and Gibson Street, across from the Alamo Drafthouse. Street parking and the South Congress Pay-by-Phone lot are both available. We’re open Tuesday through Friday, 9am–7pm, and Saturday, 9am–5pm.
